By default, your video quality will be set to Automatic. Your video player will detect the best video quality based on your internet speed. It won't interrupt your viewing, either. It will seamlessly change while you're watching. If you change your video quality, it will stay on this setting until you change it again.
The steps you take to change the video quality will vary depending on your device:
Mobile (Portrait mode)
Note: As the mobile and tablet app is reimagined, features that will deliver the best user experience for launch have been prioritised. We’re continuing to improve the app, however the ability to adjust video quality while streaming is currently not available.
- Log in to Kayo and choose something to watch
- Either tap the 'Viewing Options'
icon, or drag the video player down
- Tap 'Quality Options'
- You'll now have three options to choose from:
- Automatic
- Standard Definition (SD)
- High Definition (HD)
- Tap on the option you wish to change your video quality to
- Drag the video player back to the top of your device
Note: 4K streaming is not available on mobile devices.
Web
- Log in to Kayo and choose something to watch
- Click this icon
at the top of your video player
- The Top Tray will open with a list of options
- Click on 'Quality Options'
- Choose between three options just by clicking on them:
- Automatic
- Standard Definition (SD)
- High Definition (HD)
- Click on the option you wish to change your video quality to
- To close the Top Tray, click the small arrow icon at the bottom right of the Top Tray
Note: 4K streaming is not available on web browser. You'll be unable to change the video quality using a Safari web browser.
- Log in to Kayo and choose something to watch
- Open the top tray by tapping 'Up' on your remote control
- The Top Tray will open with a list of options on the left hand side
- Navigate to 'Quality Options'
- Choose between three options just by clicking on them:
- Automatic
- Standard Definition (SD)
- High Definition (HD)
- 4K
- Click on the option you wish to change your video quality to
Note: To watch Kayo in 4K, you’ll need:
- a Kayo Premium subscription
- a device that is compatible with Kayo, and supported for 4K viewing on Kayo
- a steady broadband speed of at least 25Mbps
- to ensure the content you’ve selected is available in 4K.
