When it comes to streaming, internet speed and quality are essential to your viewing experience. We've built Kayo to use adaptive streaming technology, which makes it possible to stream at home and on the go, on a range of internet connections.
You can test your internet speed using a speed test via your web browser to help determine what your streaming quality should be, and use the table below as a guide to see what internet speed you will need to stream Kayo.
| Kayo Stream Quality | Minimum Internet Connection Speed |
|---|---|
| Minimum mobile requirement for a seamless stream | 1.5Mbps |
| Minimum broadband requirement for a seamless stream | 2.5Mbps |
| Better Quality (video 720p) | 4Mbps |
| Best Quality (video 1080p) | 7.5Mbps |
| 4K | 25Mbps |
Sports on Kayo are best experienced in full High Definition (HD 1080p), which requires an internet connection of at least 7.5Mbps. If your internet connection is below 4Mbps, your stream will be in Standard Definition (SD).
You can also change the quality of your stream between HD and SD no matter what device you're using.
If you choose to set your video quality to 'Auto', the Kayo video player will stream the best possible bitrate based your internet speed and quality.
Note: If you are streaming Kayo Freebies, you will require the same internet speeds outlined above. This is because Freebies are available to stream in High Definition and Standard Definition.
Tip: Remember that your broadband speed varies significantly at peak traffic periods, such as the evening, or when it is being shared amongst multiple devices on the same network. Getting a speed test result of 7.5Mbps+ on your network may not mean much if the whole house is trying to share it at the same time!
